What Do I Need For A Yoga Class?

Coming to an in person class, here's what you'll need:

- a mat, if you have one, doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just a simple gym mat will do. If it's your first time trying yoga and you're not sure if you'll like it, don't fork out for a mat just yet, you can use one of mine!

- a couple of blocks and a strap - don't worry if you don't have these I always have them ready for you to use.

- wear comfortable, breathable clothing and have some extra layers to hand to put on during Svasana (the relaxation at the end) as you may get chilly

- a drink, to keep hydrated during class

- Don't stress! Everyone in the class is there for the same reasons as you. Come as you are.

Practising at home? You'll need the following:

- a mat, if you don't have one you could use a beach towel but be careful as it may slip or bunch as you move. If you practise at home regularly I'd definitely recommend getting a good grippy mat.

- don't have blocks and strap? No worries, you could substitute the blocks for a big book/firm cushion/low stool and a dressing gown belt or towel can work just as well as a yoga strap.

- being at home you might want to use cushions and blankets during your practice, especially during Svasana. You could use candles, fairy lights and aromatherapy oils to add to your relaxing atmosphere.

“Wherever and however you choose to practice, remember to listen to your body and enjoy the moment. Yoga is not about touching your toes, it’s about what you learn on the way down” Judith Lasate
